Uniform Policy

As part of our focus on safety, children attending Footprints Academy will be required to wear clothing that is in compliance with our very basic uniform code. The purpose of this policy is to provide additional opportunities for increased school safety, to minimize disruption, to easily identify trespassers, and to promote improvement in student behavior. School uniforms also help students to experience a greater sense of school identity and belonging and to further promote academic excellence.

Footprints Academy requires that all children wear khaki bottoms and navy blue tops. Bottoms and tops should be plain, with no embroidery or print (except for the school logo).  

Tops (shirts and blouses) must be either navy blue or white (for boys wearing white shirts the shirt must also have a collar). Acceptable styles include Polo or golf-style shirts, Oxford or button-down dress shirts, and turtlenecks. Long sleeves and short sleeves are both acceptable. Plain t-shirts may be worn as undergarments only. Vests, shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, cardigans, and lightweight jackets are permitted as items that may be worn; however, they must be navy blue. All uniform clothing must be plain without predominate manufacturer’s logos, brand names, pictures, or insignias on the clothing.

Bottoms (pants, walking shorts, skirts and jumpers) must be khaki. Acceptable pants styles include full-length dress pants, boot cut or straight-legged pants, cargo pants, straight-legged capri pants, cropped pants, skirts, skorts and shorts. A jumper may be worn and can be either khaki or navy blue.

There are no specific instructions on the types of shoes worn with the school uniform; however, it is recommended that sensible and comfortable shoes be worn. Children should always have comfortable shoes for running and participating in active classroom activities, and sneakers with non-marking soles (typically white soles) for use on the gym floor.

Students will not be allowed to wear hats inside of the school building.

You can purchase official school attire at Footprints Academy. Otherwise, most area retailers carry attire in uniform colors. It is recommended that you purchase your uniforms early as these colors do tend to sell out quickly once the school shopping season begins. Footprints Academy Families may also purchase school uniforms through Dennis Uniform Store (651.702.0606). The store will be carrying items with our school logo that will be available for purchase at any time.

Fourth through Sixth graders are allotted an additional color -- Maroon. If you wish to purchase this new color, you must do it through Dennis Uniform store only!
