Summer Reading Suggestions

It’s the end of the year and time to get ready for summer reading.  Did you know that studies have shown that children who read 4 or more books over the course of the summer do better on reading tests in the fall as compared to those kids who read only one or no books?

Below you will find various resources to help keep your child reading this summer.  There are different summertime reading programs available at your local library for children of all ages. Other reading incentive programs are sponsored through Scholastic, Dairy Queen and Borders.  I have also created a BINGO card for students to use to track their reading to earn a prize from me at the end of the summer.  If your child is having trouble picking a book to read, there are a few websites and booklists below to use as a resource.  Please contact me at lsloot@footprintsacademy.com if you have any questions.
