Through participation in our program you will learn effective leadership skills that can be used throughout your life, and you will learn how to work with children at camp and in many other settings.  Some skills for leading children include:

¶     communicating with children with a special emphasis on listening
¶     teaching positive behavior and values
¶     leading games and activities, teaching skills in sports, crafts and other areas
¶     presenting in front of small and large groups
¶     earning respect from others
¶     working as part of a team
¶     creativity and problem solving

 As you can see, this program is for young people who are highly motivated, ready to work and play hard, and who demonstrate additional responsibility in accepting the challenges of leadership.  There are a limited number of spaces and a completed application and three reference forms are required.  Not all who apply are accepted into the program.  A qualified Junior Camp Counselor will standout as a leader and a role model to fellow campers!

 There will be a one week (three consecutive days) workshop that must be attended by all Junior Camp Counselors beginning on June 15^th.  The workshop will include learning more about some of the aforementioned leadership skills and what it means to be a role model. 

 As a Junior Camp Counselor you will receive a STAFF t-shirt and a name badge that you must wear every day as part of your uniform.  At the completion of the program you will receive an evaluation and certificate of completion.
